The story behind the bread
About Our Family's Cottage Bakery
Hi, I'm Patsy.
I've been baking for more than 30 years — my mother was my first teacher. I watched her in her warm kitchen, kneading dough, cutting biscuits and making delicious cakes come alive under her hands. She never measured anything. She just knew.
That's the kind of baker I've tried to become and teach others in my family. Patient. Intuitive. Deeply in love with the process.
How it began
A mother's kitchen, a lifetime of learning
My mother baked almost every week when I was a child. Not because she had to — because she wanted to. Some nights when she baked bread, that's all my sister's and I wanted to eat for dinner. It was definitely something worth waiting for.
Today, at almost 80 years young she still bakes bread. When we gather to bake and support each other theres no limit to what we will create and offer in our cottage bakery. I continue learning her secrets and creating my our handwritten, flour dusted recipes.
What started as casual baking sessions turned into a lifelong passion and a family business — and a cottage bakery we enjoy working at together.
What I believe in
The way I bake
Slow & patient
Good bread can't be rushed. I use long fermentation times, natural starters, instant yeast and old-fashioned methods because they produce something exceptionally special.
Honest ingredients
No preservatives, no shortcuts, no mystery additives. Just flour, water, salt, and whatever the recipe calls for — sourced as locally as I can manage.
Small batches, always
I bake in small batches so every loaf gets my full attention. That means limited quantities each week — but it also means every loaf is genuinely made by hand.
Made for neighbors
This isn't a factory. It's a cottage kitchen. I bake for the people in my community — people I might run into at the farmers market or wave to on a morning walk.
Thank you for being here.
Everything we bake carries a little piece of my mother's kitchen. I hope it brings the same warmth to your table that it brings to mine.
